PUL-I-ALAM (SW) – A number of candidates for the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) elections in Logar claim state resources have been used here for electoral campaign by some candidates.
The Constitution and regulations by the Independent Election Commission clearly warn the candidates against utilizing state resources for their electoral campaigns. However, a number of candidates for the forthcoming polls in Logar believe some candidates are brazenly violating this rule.
Mohammad Asif Nabizay and Syed Mohammad Siddiq Hassanzada, two candidates, claimed the state resources have been rampantly used by certain candidates in the province.
The provincial office of the IEC has not commented on this matter, however, Shamshad Dilawari, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar anyone found guilty of exploiting state resources for their electoral campaign would face legal actions. He urged candidates in the province to be very candid in their electoral campaigns in terms of rules and regulations.
