KABUL (SW) – A number of Wolesi Jirga (lower house) candidates from Kabul lock down the parliament house in a protest demonstration against delay in announcement of election results.
The protest demonstration was organized by a number of WJ candidates who had been named as victorious following initial, but not final results. The protesting candidates and their supporters vowed not to allow the parliament proceed with routine activities until final results for Kabul province are announced.
One such candidate, Allah Gul Mujahed, said until final results for Kabul is announced, the administrative board of the WJ should not be formed. Another protesting candidate, Shenkay Karokhail, also urged the government not to further delay announcement of the final results for the WJ polls held in October last year.
The house was set to elect administrative board today, but the protest demonstration did not allow that to happen.
