KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday imposed a 10-day ban on Sakhi Mashwani for disrespecting a minister during the previous session.
Mashwani stood up from his seat in the WJ on Wednesday and approached towards the Minister for Rural Development Naseer Ahmad Durrani in violent posture. The verbal feud between the two led to the adjournment of the session.
In today’s session, deputy speaker Zahir Qadeer ruled that Sakhi would only be allowed in the house after ten days when the allegations traded between him and the minister are thoroughly investigated.
He added the matter would be debated upon in the house then. He noted that Sakhi Mashwani has sought apology from the house for his disrespectful act.
The banned member of the house is a representative of Kunar. He charged the minister for looting and abusing funds earmarked for Kunar. The minister on the other hand, has levelled similar allegations against the WJ member Sakhi Mashwani.
