KABUL (SW) – A well-placed source told Salam Watandar an aerial consignment of winter-wear for the security forces has been lost in Jawzjan province.
The source said the military helicopter was carrying winter-wear for some 360 security forces when bad weather led to unwanted drop of consignment in the Taliban-controlled area in Darzab district of Jawzjan. The source said the winter uniform was meant for security forces getting ready to launch a clean-up operation in Darzab.
Security officials have rejected these reports. Zubair Arif, deputy spokesman for the defense ministry, said the military supplies are dispatched to destinations in line with a proper plan and schedule. He said there are not report of any such incident about a consignment getting lost in Jawzjan.
A Taliban spokesman in the area did not share views for further verification of the matter.
Darzab is one of the most insecure parts of Jawzjan with the government having a minimal control.
