JALALABAD (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said while addressing locals in Jalalabad on Sunday that negative views in regard to the peace process with the Taliban would not be allowed.
In his remarks, the president renewed his call on the Taliban to shun violence and join peace process, and stressed upon the masses’ role for peace in the country. Hailing the performance of the army in Nangarahr province against pro-Daesh militants, the president criticized the police force for alleged corruption and incompetence.
He directed relevant authorities to dismiss incompetent and corrupt officials, not allow interference in electoral affairs and form a special force to curb land-grabbing. The president inaugurated a 1000-bed bospital, and directed swift completion of highways in the province.
On his term, provincial governor, Hayatullah Hayat, vowed to take stern actions against corrupt elements and land-grabbers in the province.
Representing the residents of the province, a number of local elders complained against the high-handedness of the officials and some members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house).
