‘’Will not allow ‘fraudulent’ elections’’

29/08/2018

KABUL (SW) – Representatives of different political parties on Wednesday warned that they will not allow the government to hold ‘fraudulent’ elections.

In a statement issued here, these parties and political movements noted there is no effective monitoring in place for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, and that millions of fake identity cards have been distributed.

In other part of the statement, it is said that political parties will not stop resisting until these issues are resolved, otherwise the protest drive would widen across the country.

According to the political parties' resolution, they are ready to talk to the government about this.

Commenting on this, Faizullah Safi, a member of the Hizb-i Islami cultural committee led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, said the election would not be acceptable if the elections were held under current circumstances.

However, Abdul Aziz Ebrahimi, the spokesman for the Independent Election Commission (IEC), told Salam Watandar that the demands of the parties and political movements cannot be entertained under current situation, and that if political parties want transparency, they should increase their supervisory role.
