What was the story behind murder of a student in Herat?

HERAT CITY (SW): Nizamuddin, an engineering student in Herat was stabbed to death on Thursday afternoon after an argument that also left several other students wounded.

As a student from south western Farah province;  Nizamuddin would stay with his six fellow students in a rented house in Khoja Morad area of western Heart province. The argument flared-up place when Nizamuddin left his house to buy grocery. Nizamuddin reportedly received threats from the youngsters who lived on the same street. The youngsters threatened him to keep his eyes down while passing through the street. But the affair got deadly when the argument finally broke into physical clash and eventually resulted in him getting stabbed.

Upon witnessing the scene, the locals rushed to the site and tried to calm things down.

Nadirsha Qanooni, a roommate of Nizamuddin has said that the matte was reported to the nearby police station, which is situated only around 150 meters away from the place they live, but the police only reached more than 20 minutes after the brawl. Eye witnesses say that the clash took place again and it continued for nearly an hour.

They added that the straying youngsters kept firing in the air to scare away the police. The eye witnesses add that one of the boys ultimately stabbed Nizamuddin to death. The eye witnesses blame the police saying that although the clash lasted for 2 hours but the police failed to stop it.

A number of students took the corpse on their deceased student and asked the government to ensure safety of the students.

Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, the spokesperson for Herat Police has said in this regard that police reached the spot in 10 minutes. He added that the arrival of police secured the lives of Nizmauddin’s fellow students. Ahmadi stated that so far 6 suspects have been taken into custody in this regard.
