HERAT CITY(SW):Prosecutors in western Herat province have denied allegations about rapping imprisoned women in the province, calling the allegation baseless.
Earlier, the Civil Society Institution for Justice in Afghanistan claimed in a report that the prosecutors and local judges have raped 3 women out of 10 women who were in custody. The report also claimed that the same situation was underway in other provinces as well.
Samiuddin Rahin, head of Herat Appellate Court told journalists that they have asked the CSIJA to provide them with facts to prove their claims. He added that they have not been shown any proof yet.
He asserted that Shamsuddin Shams, Head of the CSIJA was a corrupt man and his organization was not even registered with the government.
Abdullah Azizi, an officer at the man prison, also leveled similar allegations against CDIJA and its head. He said Shams suffers from mental illness as he leveled similar allegations against a number of government institutions in a number of other provinces.
Shamsuddin Shams told Salam Watandar that he has travelled to the capital Kabul in a bid to further investigate the case.
