CHIGHCHIRAN (SW): A local warlord in Ghor province has been blamed for abducting more than 80 women after torching dozens of homes.
Residents of Masjid-e-Nigar area in Chahrak district of the province told Salam Watandar that Fazl Ahad, brother of Fazl Ahmad, former governor of the province, abducted these women and set their homes on fire.
The residents said this incident took place in the presence of the security forces. The residents further said when the locals resisted, Fazl Ahad, the local commander and his loyal men, ran over a man with military tank and set another person on fire in his home.
Mohammad Hashem Faizi, member of provincial council, confirmed the atrocity, but said the number of women abducted is 20 while at least 60 homes are torched, and several women and children are dead. “Right now, the Taliban have gathered in Masjid-e-Nigar area planning to attack the residential area of the former governor of the province in revenge”, informed Faizi.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni, police chief of Ghor, has rejected the news about any such incident. He said the security forces does not allow any person to kidnap people and commit atrocities. “There was a clash between the Taliban insurgents and the security forces in that area. All casualties are on the Taliban side. No civilians have sustained any harm”, assured Mohseni.
A fight between the Taliban and the security forces took place on Friday night when the Taliban’s deputy shadow governor, Mullah Ahmad Shah, attacked the residence of Ghor’s former governor Fazl Ahmad in the Shahrak district of the province. The attack completely burned the former governor’s house and claimed one life.
