LASHKARGAH (SW): After being hailed as a new mark of sharing and harmony in a number of cities around the world, the trending “Wall of Kindness” has now been erected in southern Afghan city of Lashkargah.
Civil society activists in southern Helmand province inaugurated this wall on Sunday with the same brand message of “leave here if you do not need, take away if you need”.
The idea of the wall came from Tehran, Iran where a number of citizens placed clothes, shoes and other stuff on the wall for those who might need it.
In Afghanistan, the wall has been erected in the capital Kabul, northern provinces Kunduz, Faryab, Parwan, western Heart and Farah provinces and now in Helmand.
Sardar Mohammad Hamdard, head of Helmand Civil Society, said in this regard that this idea is excellent in terms of promoting harmony and the sense of sharing among the community members.
He added that a number of internally displaced families live in Lashkargah that are compelled by insecurity in their native areas.
According to him, the wall will be helpful in terms of collecting aid for such needy families.
Agha Mohammad Qureshi, a member of the local civil society, vowed to stretch the idea to the far away districts across the province.
