KABUL (SW) – First Vice President Amrullah Saleh on Wednesday survived an attempt on his life in Kabul, officials confirmed.
The ‘sworn enemies’ of Afghanistan today tried again to harm the first vice president, Saleh’s office said.
At least 10 people were killed and 15others were injured in this bomb blast in the Taimani area of Kabul's 4th police district, Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said.
The bomber struck shortly after 7:30 a.m. local time, Arian wrote on his Twitter account.
The Taliban denied any involvement in the attack.
In a short video message, the VP said he is unharmed, but a couple of his guards sustained injuries. Saleh said he was unaware of any civilian casualties, but apologized to all those who may have been killed or injured in the attack due to attempt on his life.
Office of the President condemned the attack on Saleh, saying it was carried out by the enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
