KABUL (SW): Nazeer Ahmad Ahmadzai, deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house), has said the house would only vote on the fate of newly introduced ministers when the cabinet is completed.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, Ahmadzai said the house would first deliberate on the proposals by the members for their respective constituencies, and second on the agenda is to vote on the cabinet picks by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for the of Ministry of Information and Culture, Ministy of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Education.
The deputy speaker stressed the members have agreed that the house would not vote for these three ministers until the cabinet is completed. Ahmadzai urged the President to avoid rift between the parliament and the government, and make sure to nominate the three remaining ministers as well.
At the moment, up to 11 ministries and other departments are under the supervision of interim heads. According to the Constitution, an interim minister can only serve up till two months.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the Arg (Presidential Palace) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)’s office on it, but to no avail.
