TAKHAR (SW): Residents of Ghaudi village of Khawaja Bahaudin district of Takhar province have blocked the distribution of land to teachers in this district.
A number of teachers from Khawaja Bahaudin district told Salam Watandar, that it has been more than two years since the teachers’ township was approved for construction by the government; however, the residents of Ghaudi village in this district have not allowed the construction to begin.
According to the officials at Takhar Education Directorate, this settlement, which is designed on 145 acres of land, is intended for 238 houses for teachers.
Sayed Enayatullah Navid, head of Takhar Education Directorate, said that the villagers of the Ghaudi have been preventing the distribution of the land for teacher’s settlements, and the local government has not shown any support.
Sunat Timure, spokesperson for Governor of Takhar, said that the usurpation of land in Khawaja Bahaudin has become a norm; however, the local government is determined to start the settlement process for teachers in the teacher’s township soon.
The officials at the Takhar Education Directorate added that the technical work of the teacher’s township has been completed in the districts of Rastaq, Dasht Qala, and Khawaja Bahaudin; however, the distribution of land to teachers has been blocked by the powerful and armed people.
