KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Monday announced that the utilization of development budget has improved by 13 per cent this year in comparison to the year before.
Eklil Ahmad Hakimi, Minister of Finance, told a press briefing in Kabul that up to 67 per cent of development budget has been utilized in this fiscal year while as in the previous it was 54 per cent. He added that the MoF is top on the list with 94.4 per cent utilization of the development budget.
Highlighting other top utilizers, the Minister added that the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock utilized 90.4 per cent of its budget, the Ministry of Rural Development and Rehabilitation 79.3 per cent, the Ministry of Public Health 83.3 per cent, and the Ministry of Water and Power 79.4 per cent.
Hakimi went on to say Annual Budget for the year 2018-19 has been planned in line with world-class norms. It is worth noticing that the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) has already rejected the proposed draft of the Annual Budget 2018-19 on technical terms by a majority vote.
