KABUL(SW): Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said that turning US military airports and bases into trade and industry centers would be one of the agendas to be discussed at the next Meeting of the United States-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.
Atiqullah Nasrat, Chief Executive Officer for ACCI, told journalists on Monday in Kabul that the eleventh meeting of the United States-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Framework Agreement would be held for three days. It would start from 8 December and conclude on 10 December, 2015 in Washington DC.
Sulaiman Lutfi, Chairman of the Board for the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, said that US military bases in Balkh, Kandahar and Herat provinces would gradually turn into business centers.
He added that an agreement has been signed between US and Afghanistan in Dubai for the very purpose.
Don Ritter, Chief Executive Officer for Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, said that 8 military bases have been specified that would turn into investment and trade centers.
ACCI’s officials said that the meeting between Afghanistan and the United States would be crucial as it would help Afghan businessmen to find business partners for themselves.
They said that insecurity was a huge threat hindering investment in Afghanistan. The traders asked government to seriously tackle it.
