KABUL (SW): The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Afghanistan has managed to constitute a charter for its operations in the country.
Mohammad Shakir, Secretary General Afghan National Commission for UNESCO said this move would help streamline the operations of this organization in Afghanistan.
Speaking at the launch of the charter here on Saturday, he said that UNESCO’s tasks for support in the fields of education, science and culture would improve with the help of this charter.
Mohammad Shakir noted that from now on, the interested ministries and foundations can present their proposals to UNESCO in accordance with the new charter. “This (Charter) would streamline UNESCO’s work in Afghanistan”, he said.
The new UNESCO charter has 3 chapters and 20 articles. It constitutes of a high council, an executive council and a secretariat that would work under the voluntary leadership of the Minister for Education and Literacy.
