KABUL (SW): In a bid to lower the unemployment rate, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyres and Disable (MoLSAMD) on Monday held National Labor Conference.

Speaking on the occasion, Faizlullah Zaki, Minister for MoLSAMD, said the number of unemployed people has reached 6 million across the country. He said the unemployment rate has soared to 24 per cent. The minister said this conference would evaluate ways and means to create jobs, and highlight areas, sectors and policies in this regard.

Zaki said despite impediments many positive developments have taken place in recent years. He informed the cabinet has approved 5 plans for this purpose and three more are under consideration to improve job market.

Chief Executive Officer, Abdullah Abdullah, told the conference the government is fully committed to create jobs. He urged participants of the conference to highlight obstacles, and assured measures to remove such obstacles.

This two-day conference is taking place at a time when many young Afghans are seeking to travel abroad for better life.
