HERAT CITY: Local officials in eastern province Herat said that the unauthorized landing of a Qatari plane at Herat airport has angered President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Mohammad Asef Rahimi, Governor of Herat, said that a few days ago a plane carrying 10 armored vehicles and foodstuff landed at Herat airport without any prior coordination with local officials in the province.
The governor said that the president following the incident, became outraged and fired the controlling responsible individuals at the Herat airport.
Rahimi further said that six Herati citizens who have facilitated the landing were arrested by the police at the airport.
The reason for the unauthorized landing of the plane has not been identified yet but soon a delegation comprised of members from several ministries would probe into the incident.
There have been assumptions that individuals from Arabic countries have decided to come for hunting in the western provinces of the country and they carried their hunting tools with themselves.
Last year a number of Arabs too came to Herat at the request of Mohammad Ismail Khan, former minister of water and energy and then traveled to Farah province for hunting purposes.
