KABUL(SW): The Ministry of Interior has said a UN report about the presence of Daesh in Afghanistan is far from reality. Sidique Siddiqui, Spokesman for the Ministry said intelligence reports reject the claims about Daesh’s presence in 25 provinces. The UN said in a report that Daesh was active propagating and recruiting in 25 provinces in Afghanistan. It added that some 70 people have arrived in Afghanistan from Syria and Iraq for terrorist activities. The Ministry spokesman said Daesh was only present in Nangarhar and Helmand provinces. He said the presence of Daesh in Afghanistan was worrisome. He asked the international community to help eradicate the roots of this group from Afghanistan.

Jawed Kohistani, a security analyst says if Daesh was not curtailed, it would cause serious problems for Afghanistan. He said this group wants to establish training camps in the country. Wolesi Jirga member Abdul Hai Akhundzada said terrorists have not arrived from Iraq and Syria in fact men from Afghanistan were joining the ranks of Daesh. The Ministry spokesman said a special unit of the NDS has been formed to tackle Daesh. Latest reports suggest some 300 Daesh militants have been killed in Nangarhar province recently.
