KABUL (SW): The state visit of Interior Minister Nur ul-Haq Ulumi to Pakistan has been delayed, a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) stated.
The statement noted that the visit was scheduled for this week but because of the domestic security issues and tasks at hand his trip has been deferred. The statement added that the minister will make a visit to Pakistan in another suitable time. Ulumi had received a formal invitation from Pakistani officials for this visit.
Pakistan’s Dawn.com has however, mentioned that attack on the parliament as the main reason behind delay in the trip. Afghanistan’s spy agency NDS has blamed its Pakistani counterpart ISI for the attack that saw all six attackers being killed. Two civilians also lost lives in this attack.
Breifing the Masharano Jirga (upper house) about security situation, Ulumi said security forces were growing in strength and will give crushing blow to the Taliban within the next six months.
Rehmatullah Nabil, NDS Chief, however, had warned that the militants would intensity their attacks that might aggravate the security situation in the coming six months.
Ulumi stated the militant groups were trying to access China and the Central Asian states that was why insecurity has grown in the northern areas of the country.
