KABUL (SW): Herbert Raymond McMaster, the U.S. National Security Advisor is set to visit Afghanistan soon.
U.S. President Donald Trump has told Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary General that Washington intends to send McMaster to assess the situation in Afghanistan.
In a meeting between the two, matters related to cooperation between the U.S. and the NATO, the escalating security situation in Afghanistan besides a wide range of global issues were discussed. According to the U.S. media, Trump and Stoltenberg vowed to work together to ensure peace and stability. The situation in Syria was on top of the agenda, media reports suggest.
Jens Stoltenberg told a joint presser after the meeting that the NATO’s mission in Afghanistan is the biggest military engagement of the alliance to date. This was the first meeting between Trump and the NATO Secretary General.
