PUL-I-ALAM (SW): A number of Logar residents said 28 people have died from a U.S.-led air strike in the Dashtibari area of the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Bismillah, a resident of Dashtibari, told Salam Watandar that the incident took in the early hours of Wednesday morning. According to him, the area is currently surrounded by foreign and Afghan security forces.
Dawood, another local resident, confirming the civilian causalities said, 28 to 32 people were living in the house, which was targeted by the air strike, and now only one of its members has survived. According to him, the family originally hailed from Khost province.
But, Salim Saleh, the provincial governor’s spokesman, talking to Salam Watandar justified that the Americans targeted Taliban in the area as a result of the air strike Mohammadullah, shadow chief for Khoshi district and his deputy along with 10 civilians were killed.
Zabiullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, in a mobile conversation with Salam Watandar did not comment on the deaths of Taliban in the air raid, but claimed that the Taliban crashed an American military aircraft in Logar province.
The Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan has not issued any statement on the incident yet.
