MEHTERLAM (SW): A mortar shell hit a school in Laghman province on Saturday leaving at least two students dead and six more injured.
The incident took place in the Bisram area in the Mehterlam, provincial capital. According to the officials, the Habibur Rehman High School was hit by a mortar shell fired by the armed rebels. Sarhadi Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar the injured students have been shifted to the Mehterlam public hospital.
This main public hospital has confirmed receiving two dead bodies and seven injured. Dr. Attaullay Niazi, director of the hospital, said the injured students are under treatment.
Meanwhile, the locals have held a protest demonstration in front of the provincial government’s headquarters. They demanded justice for the victims.
