CHAGHCHARAN (SW): Provincial authorities in Ghor province have said a quarrel between a mother in-law and her daughter in-law has taken the life of a 7-year-old boy in the Shahrak district on Monday.
Mohammad Kabiri, district chief, told Salam Watandar that the minor was named Khawar. “The mother had strangled her child in frustration due to the domestic problems with her in-laws”, he said, adding that the boy’s body was discovered from the Khara Sang village in the district.
Abdul Hai Khatibi, provincial governor’s spokesman, has confirmed the case. He added that the incident took place in a village where the Taliban insurgents are dominant.
In another case of domestic violence, a 20-year-old female has been found dead in Badghes province’s Qades district.
Zahir Bahand, provincial governor’s spokesman, said the initial investigation indicate ‘domestic violence’ as the cause of the death. “Postmortem report indicates signs of force that contradict the claims made by her in-laws that she committed suicide”, added Bahand.
The Qades district in Badghes is also under the Taliban’s control. Authorities, however, claim they have initiated investigations into both these cases of domestic violence in areas under the rebel’s control.
