HERAT CITY (SW): A group of locals in Herat’s Kohsan district have shot dead a couple over alleged adultery, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Jailani Farhad, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar the incident took place in the district’s Bunyad village. He said the locals allegedly charged the couple for being engaged in extramarital affair, and later shot both dead. He added the police force is in search of the culprits.
Farhad said so far it is not proven if the couple actually had an affair, but investigations are underway in this regard.
A similar incident has been reported from Badghes province where a teenaged couple has been killed in the province’s Qala-e-Nau district for extramarital affair.Ghulam Sarwar, director for security in the province, told Salam Watandar Abdul Nasir, father of the girl, has shot the couple dead before joining the ranks of the Taliban. He said the incident took place in the Taliban-controlled area.
