Two coal miners lose lives in Baghlan

07/12/2016

PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): At least two workers in a coal mine have reportedly died in Baghlan province following collapse of an interior wall.

The accident occurred in the Nahrin district on Monday but the bodies of the deceased minors are still inside the mine. Abdul Wadood Sherzad, an official at the district administration told Salam Watandar that the locals do not have the tools and expertise to take out the dead bodies from the collapsed mine.

Mohammad Azeem, a close relative of one of the deceased minors, told Salam Watandar that the locals are trying hard to bring out the dead bodies but to no avail. It is vital to note that only one week ago, the provincial council in Baghlan expressed grim concerns over un-regulated and hazardious mining activities in the province.
