KHOST CITY (SW): Disputes over land and mountain between the tribes of Mangal and Moqbel restarted after 10 years, leaving 2 dead and 9 injured in Khost province.
The elders of the tribes informed that the parties involved in the tensions used heavy and light weapons. Locals also said that the elders of the 2 tribes have renewed the hostilities for their own benefits.
Abdul Wali Wahidzai, a provincial council member, told Salam Watandar the Provincial Council has neglected to resolve the tension between the 2 tribes. He added that the Council will not hesitate to resolve this tension.
Hafizullah, an elder of Khost, who seeks to resolve the tension between the 2 tribes, assured the tensions between the people of Mangal and Moqbel will be resolved by the intervention of the tribal elders.
Faizullah Ghairat, the provincial police chief, confirming the recent armed clash between the 2 tribes said the fighting between them has stopped. He informed that the disputed land and mountain slopes are in fact government property.
Earlier, the local government had tried to resolve tribal tensions in the province, but despite all efforts, the disputes and tensions have restarted.
