QALA-E-NAU (SW) – Officials in Badghes have confirmed a tribal feud in this province has claimed at least 21 lives.
Naqeebullah Amini, spokesman for the police headquarters, informed this years’ old feud sparked fresh clashes in the Abqamari area leading to deaths on both sides.
The spokesman said one of the warring tribe, Barat, has the backing of the local administration while the opponent tribe is backed by the Taliban in the area. The Barat tribe has reportedly lost 13 men while the rival tribe lost eight men in armed clashes, he said.
According to the local officials, efforts are underway in the area to put an end to this years’ old deadly feud.
