BADAKHSHAN (SW): Badakhshan Provincial Hospital (BPH) has been collaborating with the French Hospital in Kabul since 2010 and has been treating the patients remotely who otherwise cannot be treated locally in BPH.
Patients who have been coming to BPH in Faizabad from far remote villages said that without these services, they will have no other option except to die, because of poverty and lack of resources.
Atta Mohammad, a resident of Argo district, whose wife had been treated in BPH said that his wife is now doing fine and they are happy with the services.
Qutbudin Fazli, director of telemedicine in BPH in Faizabad told Salam Watandar that they have been providing health services and expert advice to patients with dysfunctional and dangerous diseases.
In this center (BPH), patients directly discuss their problems through video conferencing with doctors at the French Hospital in Kabul, and another physician sitting next to the patient notes the recommendations of the specialist and prescribes the medication.
Rahimullah, a resident of Jaram district, said that her mother has been suffering from a chronic illness for several years and due to poverty and lack of resources, he was not able to take her to Kabul for treatment. Rahimullah’s mother is now under treatment in this center (BPH).
Naqib Saifi, head of BPH in Faizabad, said they have been collaborating with the French Hospital in Kabul for over 7 years, and since then, thousands of patients have been treated in this center.
According to the officials at BPH in Faizabad, the provision of health services through remote treatment program has been beneficial in treating patients in less time and also cut cost.
