Officials at the Transitional Justice Coordination Group (TJCG), urged that the war criminals should be identified and stand trial for their crimes as soon as possible.
Abdul Basir Faizi, a member at the TJCG, speaking at a press conference yesterday (Tuesday) that peace talks is an excuse for the government to ignore transitional justice and this has been the reason for a continuous fighting in the country.
He asked the citizens not to remain silent towards such crimes.
Abdul Rahim Jami, another member of the group, too said that war crimes have been on the rise. He blamed lack of political will in the government for the major increase of such acts.
He once again urged for the release of the transitional justice’s report and added that by releasing the report at least some war criminals will be identified.
28 members of Human Rights Commission spent four years(2005-2009) preparing a report under the name of” Transitional Justice”.
It is said that the report names all human rights violators and war criminals over several years in the past.
The release of the report has been postponed for unknown reasons.
The officials at TJCG urged the government, United Nations and donor countries to revive and improve the process of transitional justice and put an end to the culture of impunity in the country.
