HERAT CITY (SW): Authorities at the Herat Public Hospital reported that 315 people were wounded and 4 others killed in traffic accidents and criminal activities during the Eid days.
Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, the spokesman for the public hospital in Herat, said 237 people sustained wounds and 3 more died in traffic accidents indicating a 50 per cent increase compared to last year’s Eid. According to him, 79 persons were injured and 1 killed by criminal acts. “Only on the third day of Eid al-Adha, 90 wounded in traffic accidents were brought to the hospital, 10 of whom were in critical condition”, added Sherzai.
Local authorities in Khost province also said 4 people were killed and 141 injured as a result of traffic accidents in the province.
Failure to comply with traffic laws and regulations, motorcycle speeding in the city are the main reasons for the increase in traffic accidents.
