GHAZNI CITY (SW): A road accident has claimed at least 14 lives in southern Ghazni province as a passenger bus collided head on with an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction.
Initial reports suggest that the accident occurred in Ghazni’s Muqur district. Eye witnesses told Salam Watandar that the oil tanker was full with fuel and it busted into flames immediately after the accident that caused the serious damage.
Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, Ghazni’s Security Chief, has said that the accident took place at around 7:30 in the morning. Waheedullauh, interim district chief, said in this regard that a total of 110 passengers were on board the bus. He said many people lost lives in the accident while more than 50 are injured.
Medical sources have informed that most of the injured are in critical state. Efforts were underway to dispatch the seriously injured people to the capital Kabul for immediate treatment.
