PUL-I-ALAM (SW): For the very first time in over last three decades, the Ministry of Women Affairs revived the tradition of announcing ‘best mother’ of the year.
Nafs Jaheed, a 65-year old woman from northern Baghlan province has been declared as the “best mother” of the year. Speaking at a press conference in the provincial capital, Khadija Yaqin, the head to Women Affairs’ Department in the province, said that the tradition of selecting the “best mother” of the year has been resumed after over three decades.
Based on decent performance and good services, she stated that the Ministry of Women Affairs selected Nafs Jaheed as the “best mother” of the year. Nafs Jaheed is a reputed woman in her locality. She has founded a university in Baghlan province. She is also the first lady who has established Directorate of Women’s Affairs in the province. Nafs Jaheed has also served as a teaching trainer in almost all schools in the province. She is a social science graduate and a poetess.
Having served as an advisor to the women’s council in northern parts of country, Nafs Jaheed has also been board member at the Directorate of Women’s Common Council and Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Training Centers.
