KABUL (SW): Kabul’s food items suppliers have given the government a 48-hours ultimatum on Sunday to recover the son of a trader who has allegedly been kidnapped by men in the spy agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) uniform.

The abducted trader has been identified as Wahdatullah, son of Haji Mohammad Asif, chairman of food traders’ union. He is said to be kidnapped from the capital’s eastern Bagrami district on Saturday.

Khan Jan Alokozai, Deputy head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) told a press conference that after the ultimatum expires, the traders would stop food item supply to the capital in protest.

The ACCI deputy head said more than 30 traders have been kidnapped and one of them being killed in the past two months.

Separately, large number of traders criticized the government for its lack of attention towards their businesses in northern Balkh province on Sunday.

Asadullah Nachar, Head of Trade Union in Balkh, said more than 23000 people were busy with different trades but since the establishment of the Government of National Unity (GNU), their businesses have been on the verge of collapse.
