JALALABAD (SW): The officials in eastern Nangarhar province have confirmed the death of Hafiz Saeed, the Daesh’s Commander for Afghanistan.
Gen. Mohammad Zaman Waziri, Commander of the Afghan National Army (ANA)’s 201-Selab Corps confirmed the news. Talking to a group of journalists in the restive Achin district, he said that the notorious commander has been killed during the clean-up operation underway in the area.
He added that besides Hafiz Saeed, some 23 more top Daesh commanders have been killed in the offensives.
The ANA Commander asserted that the pro-Daesh rebels have been completely repulsed from the Achin and Kot districts. It is vital to note that the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani directed the ANA to conduct an extensive operation to eliminate the Daesh for good. In line with these directives, the security forces launched “Qahr-e-Selab” (Rage of Selab) operation in Nangarhar’s restive districts earlier this month.
Last week, the government forces also claimed to have killed Sa’aad Amarati, operation head of the pro-Daesh militants in Afghanistan. The militants have not commented on these reports so far.
