SHARANA/ KABUL (SW): In collaboration with the Resolute Support (RS) forces, Afghan security forces claimed to have killed a top Al-Qaeda leader and destroyed their four bases in the south eastern Paktika province on Monday.
According to the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the al-Qaeda leader Khuram alias Qaseem, Junaid, Hassan and Khadama was killed with his seven allies in the Gomal district. The spy agency claimed it has confiscated a number of automatic rifles of small and medium category with ammunition, mines, raw material for developing bombs and communication devices.
Paktika borders restive South Waziristan agency that remained a hub of al-Qaeda and Taliban militants for years.
Separately, the Afghan Air Force (AAF) has eliminated nine Taliban militants in southern Helmand’s restive Musa Qala district on Monday. Brig. Mohammad Rasul Zazai, spokesman for the 215-Maiwand Corps told SW joint operation by the AAF and ground forces also confiscated huge cache of arms from the rebels.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said today, a total of 12 rebels were killed in Laghman, Kandahar, Khost, Paktiya, Farah and Helmand provinces.
