KABUL (SW): The government would strive hard to bring positive change in the life of countrymen during next one hundred days, President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani said on Saturday while addressing a ceremony to mark the 23rd anniversary of the fall of pro-soviet regime.

Ghani said formation of cabinet took much of the time during the first hundred days of his administration. He added that now, as the cabinet was formed, the next one hundred days would be dedicated to ensure a positive economic change.

Usually, April 28th is marked as the day when Mujahidin ousted the pro-Soviet government in Kabul but as the President Ghani was in India last week, the official anniversary of the day was delayed for May 2nd in the Presidential Palace.

Ghani said on the occasion that days were gone when an individual would claim himself as a sole savior of the nation. “After the Allah, it is the Constitution that is the sole savior of the Afghans now”, he remarked.

While urging the religious leaders to unanimously condemn the terrorism, he noted international terrorists wanted to destroy the peace and stability.

The President directed concerned authorities to create at least 700 more posts for Imams in various ministries and declare the existing 2700 temporary posts as permanent.

About the peace process, Ghani said peace was the need of the hour and efforts were underway to achieve it.

Earlier, his Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said on the occasion that Afghans must also be prepared for violence. “Unfortunately, war would continuo alongside the peace talks, Afghans must also be ready for it”, he said.

Speakers highlighted the endeavors of Mujahidin and stressed for the need to comfort the families of those who lost lives or limbs during the long struggle over two decade ago.
