JALALABAD (SW) – Authorities in Kunar province said on Saturday at least three militants associated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayaba group were killed in an operation.
Abdul Ghani Musmim, spokesman for the provincial governor, said these militants were killed by the security forces in the Asmaar district of the province. Two more members of the group were injured in the attack, he added.
The governor’s spokesman further said all of the militants killed and wounded in this operation were Pakistani citizens.
Lashkar-e-Tayaba is one of many prominent militant organizations based in Pakistan. It is known to have close ties to Daesh, Taliban and Al-Qaeda in the region.
