Thousands of families in Maidan Wardak to get electricity

MAIDAN WARDAK (SW): As many as 30 thousand families in Maidan Wardak province would be connected to the national power grid in the next six months, officials have said.

Abdul Rahman, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar work on erecting power transmission towers for the supply of imported electricity from Tajikistan has been completed, and with the establishment of a substation, up to 30 thousand families in the province’s Syed Abad district would receive electricity. He added the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) is busy on establishing electricity distribution network.

The locals have expressed content over the development. Mohammad Javed, a resident of the district told Salam Watandar arrival of electricity would help improve the lives of thousands of people.

The DABS has plans to establish a 220 kilowatt power supply line from Kabul to Kandahar via Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Uruzgan provinces. Work on this project started two years ago, and so far some 392 power transmission towers have been erected for it.
