‘Those opposing progress of women in the military would be sacked’

KABUL (SW) – President Ashraf Ghani has said women have made significant progress in the past two decades and no one would be allowed to prevent them from progressing.

He said this at a conference at the Ministry of Defense in connection with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, and the start of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.

The President emphasized upon the prominent presence of female troops in the ranks of the security forces and said that any obstacle hindering progress of female troops in the ranks will be removed. President Ghani emphasized that if the work environment is not compatible for the female in military, a suitable working environment will be created for them.

At this conference, ideas were shared and discussed to establish a female military council, which was accepted by the President.
