JAWZJAN (SW): Amanullah Habibi, head of the Provincial Independent Election Commission in Jawzjan said that due to the problem for the supply of materials, they have not been able to transfer election materials to Mardian, Qarqin, and Khumab districts of the province.
According to Habibi, all registration centers are currently closed in Darzab district due to security threats and the security forces have failed to provide security to these centers.
He added that there are a total of 36 registration centers in these four districts, of which 18 have not received the election materials, and 15 of these centers are located in Darzab district which are closed due to security threats.
A number of residents of Jawzjan also expressed concern over the delay in the transfer of the election materials and urged the government to provide the means for the public to participate in the election process.
Jawzjan’s civil society activists also expressed concern and criticized the government for not sending the election materials to four districts in the province saying that the closures of the voters’ registration centers provide a ground for the electoral fraud.
