The two Korean leaders hold historic summit

KABUL (SW): Kim Jong-un became the first North Korean Leader to cross into South Korean territory since the war ended in 1953.

According to sources, Kim Jong-un and the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, have come face to face at the inter-Korean meeting in the demilitarized zone.

The sources said that Kim Jong-un arrived in South Korea at 9:30 am local time, crossing the demilitarized border zone of the two countries and was officially welcomed by his South Korean counterpart.

Kim Jong-un had said before the start of the summit that “Today, we are on the brink of a new historic start of peace and prosperity in the relationship between the Korean peninsulas.”

 This is the third meeting of the leaders of the two countries, however, for the first time, a North Korean leader has entered South Korea in 65 years.

The White House issued a statement showing White House’s optimism that the progress on North Korea’s denuclearization talks would bring peace and prosperity for the Korean Peninsulas.”
