KAPISA (SW) – The officials of the 201 – Sailab Corps claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on the Taliban in the Kapisa province during the last one week.
Haroon Yosufzai, spokesman for the 201 – Sailab Corps, told Salam Watandar the Afghan forces backed by the U.S. air power conducted air and ground offensives in the Tagaab district during last week. He added this led to killing of 30 Taliban, wounding of nine more besides destroying the rebels’ training facility and cache of arms.
He added up to 12 villages in the district have been cleared from the presence of the Taliban here.
A number of provincial council members said the Badrad valley in the province had turned into a den for the Taliban with the rebels roaming around freely there.
Mohammad Husain Sanjni, chairman of the provincial council, said the latest operation against the Taliban here have inflicted heavy losses on the rebels.
The local population has welcomed the operation as an important development for peace here. Tagaad is one of the insecure mountainous districts in Kapisa.
