The Taliban shut down 25 health centers in Badghis

QALA-I-NAW (SW): Health officials in Badghis stated that the Taliban had been warning the provincial directorate of public health through telephone calls and messages to close 25 health centers in 5 districts of the province for past 3 days.

But, according to these officials they did not pay attention to Taliban warnings, and eventually the group closed 25 health centers on Monday.

Abdul Latif Rostayi, the acting director of provincial public health, told Salam Watandar that the health centers are located in Jond, Qades, Bala Morghab, Moqur districts and Qala-i-Naw city which are under the Taliban control. “Half of the patients used to get treatment at these 25 health centers. The closing of these centers have caused problems to the residents of the province”, informed Rostayi.

 Faiz Mohammad Mirza Zad, the provincial deputy governor, confirming the news stated that the provincial administration is trying to resolve the issue with the mediation of provincial peace council.

Some residents of the districts where the health center of shut showing concerns over the issue said they are forced to take their patients to remote areas with a high cost or visit local private clinics.

The Taliban have not commented on the issue yet.

Previously the Taliban insurgents had issued warned 8 health center in the province to shut down and in a recent incident the insurgents by storming a health center killed 1 civilian and injured 2 more.
