KABUL (SW): The recent endeavors and events in the National Unity Government (NUG), and its aftermaths portray the undeniable fact that democracy and freedom within the framework of the ethnocentric points of views of the ruling parties are impossible to be put into practice.
Although, in the last two decades, despite the insecurity and threats of the Taliban and ISIS, it has created a temporary moment of joy in the liberation of the people of Afghanistan, but with the ethnocentric technocrats coming to power in the NUG, which has brought alongside with it the repression of individual and social freedoms, as well as increase of ethnic and religious factionalism, shattered all the hopes of the people for a viable democracy in Afghanistan.
The supporters of the NUG and the policies of President Ashraf Ghani, which is aligned with the hidden approval of oppression and despotism and silence agenda against the tyranny, shows the priority of preserving their system and their ethnological beliefs versus the interests of the nation.
Now, a look at the work of the heads of this government (NUG) and those who claim to be the leaders of this regime in a disorderly manner against the growing demands of the people, and the role of President Ashraf Ghani in the annihilation of democracy, elucidate that their belief in democracy and the priorities of today’s society are to deny the basic and fundamental rights of the people.
These hollow technocrats, who have been looting the public funds, are still not relinquishing and are committed to loot the people until its last bit.
Similarly, the other vicious technocrats that have been ousted from power, who are now struggling to get credit from Mojahidin with the slogans of defending the rights of the people and supporting democracy, are those, who committed the most oppression on freedom and democracy and have played a fundamental role in institutionalizing violations of citizens’ rights and preventing freedom of speech, and have played a non-liberal role with the power and positions they held at the time of the communist revolution in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, The supporters of the NUG and the policies of President Ashraf Ghani, which is aligned with the hidden approval of oppression and despotism and silence agenda against the tyranny, shows the priority of preserving their system and their ethnological beliefs versus the interests of the nation.
Similarly, the obstruction in the distribution of electronic identification cards by President Ashraf Ghani, as well as his latest decision regarding unseating of the former governor of Balkh, Atta Mohammad Noor as an opponent in the 2014 election, demonstrate his racism point of view and ethnocentric policy versus democracy and freedom for all in Afghanistan.
However, whatever happened during the past two years of the NUG such as hindrance in the distribution of electronic identification cards by President Ashraf Ghani with the support of other architects of the government (Abdullah Abdullah, Atmar, etc.) is the symbol of absolute dictatorship which reflects the favoritism of traditional ethnicism, and racism over the national interest and freedom.
On the contrary, the realization of freedom and democracy within the framework of NUG, especially with the ethnocentric points of views its rulers, is impracticable and not viable.
A government whose protagonists have no value for national interests, and determine their policies based on racism and ethnicism, and do not accept the slightest criticism even from their supporters and respond to the civic demands of the citizens with the most brutal form. How can it possibly bring democracy, and freedom to post Taliban Afghanistan?
