KABUL (SW): The Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of 206 health centers worth $9.5 million was signed today (Tuesday) between the Ministry of Public Health and national and international companies.
Based on this MoU, dozens of health centers will be built in Herat, Kandahar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Jawzjan, Faryab, Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Bamiyan, Ghazni, and Kabul provinces.
Minister of Public Health, Ferozuddin Feroz, at the signing of MoU, said that the cost of building these health centers will be paid by the World Bank.
According to Health Minister, last year, 172 health centers were built in 18 provinces, meanwhile, 206 health centers will be built in 13 provinces this year.
Health Minister said that these health centers have been designed to meet the health needs of the people in the provinces. He added that with the construction of these health centers access to health services will be easier for people in these provinces.
Officials at the Ministry of Public Health said the 40 percent increase in salaries of physicians in 13 provinces, provision of health services, and mechanisms to fight HIV/AIDS in Kabul, and Herat are among the other important clauses of this MoU signed today.
