27/10/2017

Kandahar (SW): Dr. Mohmmad Azim Zemrial, head of Kandahar Public Health Department told Salam Watandar that eighth case of Polio / child paralysis was found in the Shah Walikot district of Kandahar.

According to Mr. Zemrial, a 8-month-old girl in Al-Mish area of Shah Walikot district has been diagnosed with Polio virus recently by health workers.

He added that Shah Walikot is one of the unsafe districts of Kandahar and Taliban doesn’t allow the Polio vaccinations to be carried out by health workers.

Mr. Zemrial called on the Taliban not to impede the implementation of Polio vaccines and the health programs in the province.

Earlier in this year, the Ministry of Public Health in a press conference regarding the “International Polio Eradication Day” told that 7 cases of Polio have been registered in the Southern and Southeastern provinces since the beginning of 2017 and previous year 13 cases were recorded.
