KABUL (SW) – The second vice president, Sarwar Danesh, has said there is a need for reforms in the Constitution to meet the needs of the time.
He said this addressing a moot in connection with the 16th anniversary of the Constitution here. VP Danesh said the Constitution was adopted in 2003 when there was an optimistic atmosphere in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Amir Khanyar, the first deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house), criticized the government, saying that a number of legislative decrees rejected by the House are still in effect and are still being implemented.
Mohammad Qasim Hashemzai, chairman of the Independent Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution, said on his term that the commission has faced problems during its working. He added the Constitution has been violated by a number of institutions.
