KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health has announced that samples taken from 10 people with suspected coronavirus from Kabul, Herat, Baghlan and Ghor provinces came out negative.
Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for the ministry said the samples were sent to the central laboratory of the Ministry of Public Health in Kabul on Thursday. Of these, 5 were suspected cases from Kabul, 3 in Herat, one in Baghlan and one in Ghor.
On Thursday, 10 suspected cases of coronavirus were registered in Kabul, 5 of which were negative, but the results of other five were announced today. Across the country, only one positive case of the virus has been registered in Herat province so far.
The coronavirus has been transferred to Afghanistan by a person from Qom, Iran.
The coronavirus has sounded global alarm with China reporting 2,625 deaths from the outbreak on Monday and health experts grappling to find a cure.
Outside mainland China, the coronavirus has spread to more than 25 other countries including the U.S., the U.K., Singapore, France, Russia, Spain and India.
The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak an international health emergency.
