MAIMANA (SW) – Officials in Faryab province have told Salam Watandar that at least ten district governors here are not appearing for service in their respective offices.

He said among these districts include Kohistan, Garzivan, Balcharagh, Khwaja Sabzposh, Sheren Tagab, Dawlat Abad, Almaar, Ghormach, Qarmqol and Qurghan. He went on to say that the governors of these districts are getting their monthly salaries without any service.

However, Zainullah Zaki, governor for Sheren Tagab, has blamed raging insecurity in the district for his absence from his respective office there. Zaki said if enough security is provided, he is willing to go and serve in Sheren Tagab.

Ruhullah Mirzad, governor of Kohistan, has blamed lack of proper building and resources for his absence from his respective office in the district.

The deputy governor, Muqim Rasiskh, has only confirmed the absence of seven governors from their respective districts over different reasons. He said ground has been paved for three of them to return to their respective districts and soon all would return to their deputy stations.

According to the local civil society, the absence of district governors and closure of administrative compounds there have resulted in serious impediments.
